Meet Heather

Heather Stephens-Cantu, MS, PLPC | EMDR Trained

Heather earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Missouri State University in the summer of 2020 after completing a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2017. Heather is an EMDR trained therapist who also utilizes a variety of other approaches including client-centered, solution-focused, and cognitive behavior therapy in treatment that is tailored to each client’s individual needs.

Heather sees adolescents, adults, and couples seeking therapy for a variety of reasons including trauma, relationship distress, anxiety, depression, grief, and personal growth. She partners with clients in creating safety, gaining insight, and building new skills through a combination of psychoeducation (to understand the why and normalize learned responses), processing (helping clients integrate their experiences cognitively, emotionally, and somatically), and empathy (in the therapy relationship and in the client’s relationship to themselves).
