Meet Christie

Smiling woman with blonde hair in front of a brick wall.

Christie Cathey, Counselor in Training

Christie Cathey is a counseling intern who believes that therapy is a collaborative process grounded in compassion, curiosity, and genuine human connection. She works with clients to better understand their experiences, explore patterns that may no longer be serving them, and identify steps toward creating lives that feel more meaningful and aligned with their values.
Christie draws from acceptance and mindfulness-based approaches while tailoring counseling to each person’s unique needs and experiences. She believes that difficult thoughts and emotions are a natural part of being human and that, with support, people can develop new ways of relating to themselves and their challenges.
Christie is completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Missouri State University. She earned her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Connecticut and is a professor in the Psychology Department at Missouri State University.
Christie strives to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their own growth.
